Local Attractions

Historic Guildford - Enjoy the 11th century castle and gardens, the cobbled High Street, historic buildings and churches. Lewis Carroll lived in the town, and there are plenty of related sites to visit.

Cathedral - The Cathedral is situated on a hill and offers views of the town and the North Downs.

RHS Gardens at Wisley - Located 15 minutes by car from Guildford, this 240 acre site is of great interest throughout the year with gardens, orchards, koi-stocked lakes, a pinetum, four cafes and a state-of-the-art glasshouse opened in 2007.

Surrey Hills - With its diverse landscape, rich wildlife, woodland, and attractive market towns and villages, Surrey Hills provides the opportunity for excellent walking, with lunch at any number of county pubs! Further afield there are the Hogs Back Brewery, and Denbies wine estate.

Hatchlands, Polesdon Lacey, Clandon Park and Loseley Park - These properties are all well worth a visit, and a short drive from the town. Hatchlands contains one of the largest collections of keyboard instruments. All (except Loseley Park) are National Trust Properties.

Nightlife - Guildford has many restaurants offering a range of cuisines; also pubs, bars and clubs. There is a multi-screen cinema, and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre stages many productions prior to opening on the West End.

Leisure - The Spectrum Leisure Centre is home to Guildford Flames ice hockey team, and Guildford Heat basketball Team. Thereis a leisure pool with flumes, training pool and diving pool; indoor courts for tennis, squash, badminton; gymnasium; outdoor courts and pitches; and a running track. There is also The Lido, a landscaped outdoor pool with cafe, open April-September. Guildford has a good and developing cycle network, and more rural cycle routes are available from Tourist Information.

How to find us:

From London / M25 / Portsmouth

  • Exit the A3 at the University / Cathedral exit
  • Follow The Chase down to Madrid Road and on past the rear of the station
  • Turn right at the mini-roundabout, into Farnham Road (A31)
  • We are about half a mile / 800m up the hill, on the left, beyond the school - look for the squirrel on the gatepost!

From other locations south / A31

  • Come down the hill off the Hogs Back
  • Entering the 30mph zone, go past Wodeland Avenue and then Annandale Road on the right-hand side
  • We are about 20yd / 20m further on the right

Other routes / Town Centre

  • Take the A31 exit from the one-way system in the town centre,up the hill
  • Go over the railway bridge, and straight over the mini-roundabout
  • We are about half a mile / 800m up the hill, on the left, beyond the school - look for the squirrel on the gatepost!

By rail

  • Either take a taxi from the station, or on foot exit the station main entrance, to the right
  • At the end of the road, turn again right and up the hill, over the railway bridge
  • At the mini-roundabout, continue straight over
  • We are about half a mile / 800m up the Farnham Road, on the left, beyond the school - look for the squirrel on the gatepost!
